"FROM THE VAULT" --- COUNT BISHOPS - Speedball 7" EP (Chiswick - 1975)

It makes me wonder if the British punk scene would have ever achieved lift-off without the likes of the Count Bishops knockin' down the doors of pubs so they could crawl in behind them. This steamin' slab of breakneck rhythm & blues obliterates four rock n' boogie classics. The mayhem kicks off with an absolutely manic version of "Route 66". Gritty interpretations of "I Ain't Got You" and "Beautiful Delilah" are wedged in between the opening salvo and the blistering steamroller ride of "Teenage Letter". A lethal dose of pre-Pistols pub punk!
